What is  Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS)

 These are surgeries that are usually performed through TINY incisions instead of one LARGE opening. 

It makes use of thin-needles and an endoscope to VISUALLY guide the surgery.

 

What are the benefits of minimally invasive surgery (MIS)?

  1. Less pain 
  2. Low risk of infection 
  3. Increased safety – with smaller incisions, there’s less trauma to the body and reduced blood loss
  4. Less scarring – most incisions just take a stitch or two to close
  5. Faster  recovery – Patients that undergo minimally invasive surgery, recover  faster. Recovery period can be as little as 2 weeks when compared to  traditional surgeries which may take 6 to 8 weeks.
  6. Decreased length of hospital stay – Patients who undergo minimally invasive surgery Short hospital stay
