This role is responsible for providing comprehensive dental care to patients, promoting oral health education, and maintaining high standards of dental practice.
· Bachelor of Dentistry and Dental Surgery.
· Must be fully registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria
· 2 to 5 years relevant work experience preferably in a clinical or community setting
· Must be interested in general dentistry
· Must be IT Proficient
· Strong knowledge of dental anatomy, oral diseases, and treatment techniques.
· Proficiency in performing various dental procedures and using dental equipment.
· Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients of diverse backgrounds.
· Empathy and patience in dealing with patients' dental anxieties and concerns.
· Attention to detail and the ability to work with precision.
· Strong ethical standards and commitment to patient confidentiality.
1. Patient Examination and Diagnosis:
· Perform thorough oral examinations to assess the patient's dental health and identify any existing or potential issues.
· Diagnose dental conditions, diseases, and abnormalities by analyzing X-rays, medical history, and clinical findings.
· Formulate treatment plans tailored to the patient's needs, taking into account their oral health, medical history, and personal preferences.
2. Dental Treatments and Procedures:
· Carry out various dental procedures, such as fillings, extractions, root canal treatments, and periodontal therapies.
· Administer anesthetics to ensure patient comfort during dental procedures.
· Perform cosmetic procedures like teeth whitening, veneers, and dental bonding to enhance patients' smiles.
· Design and fit dental prosthetics, such as crowns, bridges, and dentures, to restore or replace missing teeth.
3. Oral Health Education and Promotion:
· Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and diet recommendations.
· Provide guidance on preventive measures to maintain optimal oral health and prevent dental diseases.
· Conduct oral health awareness campaigns and workshops in the community to promote good dental habits.
4. Dental Records and Documentation:
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date dental records, including patient information, treatment plans, and progress notes.
· Document all procedures, medications, and treatment outcomes for legal and reference purposes.
· Ensure compliance with privacy regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
5. Collaboration and Referral:
· Collaborate with dental specialists, such as orthodontists, periodontists, and oral surgeons, for complex cases requiring specialized treatment.
· Refer patients to specialists when necessary for advanced dental procedures or specific oral health concerns.
· Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients with systemic health conditions affecting dental health.
6. Infection Control and Safety:
· Follow strict infection control protocols to maintain a sterile and safe environment in the dental clinic.
· Adhere to universal precautions and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent the spread of infections.
· Monitor and maintain dental equipment, instruments, and supplies to ensure they are in proper working condition.
7. Continuous Professional Development:
· Stay updated with the latest advancements and trends in dentistry through ongoing education and professional development activities.
· Attend dental conferences, workshops, and seminars to enhance knowledge and skills.
· Maintain licensure and fulfill continuing education requirements as mandated by the regulatory authorities.
