Dr Abiodun Adelowo

Dr. Adelowo is a Consultant Public Health & Health Promotion Specialist, Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine Physician (UK), Board Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician (US), Board Certified International Occupational Health and Safety Professional (UK), Certified Wellness Coach (US), and a Fellow of the African Institute of Public Health. His sub-specialties are Preventive Cardiovascular Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, Diabetes Remission, Health Promotion, Workplace Wellness, and Healthy Ageing/Longevity.
He has close to 2 decades of clinical and public health experience in the use of the principles of health promotion and the pillars of lifestyle medicines in the prevention, treatment, and reversal of many diseases and health conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidaemia, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and accelerated ageing. His works on healthy lifestyle and workplace health promotion have attracted several awards including the prestigious Hampusu Wusu prize from the University of Lagos.
Aside from his medical degree, he holds two Ph.D. degrees, the first in Health Education/Promotion, and the second in Public Health. He also holds three master’s degrees, three Post-Graduate Diplomas, and two Board certifications. His educational quest has taken him to many countries and has been tutored by some of the best medical and healthcare experts globally. Some of the institutions where he received his training and certifications include the Harvard Medical School, University of Pennsylvania, University of California, University of Pittsburgh, University of Washington Vanderbilt University, University of South Wales, Spencer’s Institute (California), St. Francis College (India), Central University of Nicaragua, and the University of Lagos.
He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles in many national and international journals. He has also been invited to speak at many national and international conferences and seminars. In addition, he has given a series of interviews for different newspapers and radio stations. He has also consulted and implemented targeted lifestyle interventions and preventive healthcare programs for many high-profile people and corporate organizations. He also works as a freelance consultant on workplace wellness programs for corporate organizations.
Some of his recent work experiences include being a Deputy Director of Medical Services with the Lagos State Health Service Commission; Senior Special Assistant on Health to the President of Nigeria, Personal/Family Physician to the Vice President of Nigeria, and Workplace Wellness Coordinator in Aso Presidential Villa.
He is presently the Head of clinical services/workplace wellness coordinator for an energy company in Nigeria, a consultant (public health research) for the Canadian Lifecare Institute (Canada), the Lead Consultant for the De’ Future Health Promotion Limited, and a part-term faculty with the Global Public Health University. He is also the current Vice President of the Society of Lifestyle Medicine of Nigeria (SOLONg). He is married with kids.
