THE SUCCESS STORY

Common Community Infections include:

  • Gynaecological Infections
  • Gastro-intestinal Infections
  • Urinary Tract Infections
  • Dental Infections

For all these infections: RAPID & EFFECTIVE TREATMENT IS REQUIRED  to prevent serious complications such as;

  • Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes/Miscarriage
  • Mortality
  • Unpleasant Symptoms Of Discharge And Odour
  • Infection Of Sexual Partners In Trichomoniasis
  • Increased risk of contracting other STDs like HIV
  • Emotional distress & marital disharmony
  • Intestinal perforation and hepatic complications
  • Tooth loss/ decay and halitosis

In Treatment

1. Gynaecoloical/UTI

  • antibiotics with good activity against anaerobes but that do not affect Lactobacillus spp. represent the mainstay of BV therapy.
  • Metronidazole, administered either orally or topically according to multiple-dose regimens, has long been established as a standard treatment of BV. However, a drawback of these regimens is the necessity to administer them for several days, potentially diminishing compliance
  • with a risk of incomplete cure and recurrence of BV

2. Protozoal infections of GIT require a 5-nitro-imidazole treatment

3. Dental Infections require cover against anaerobes
