ONE WEEK WORKSHOP
Annual Training Seminar and Workshop in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Care and Services Organized by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Centre @ The OSHODI ANNEX of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Yaba, Lagos. Nigeria.
Dear Sir/Ma,
Invitation to participate in the One Week Certificate Training Workshop in Child And Adolescent Mental Health Care
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Center at Oshodi, Lagos is a segment of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Yaba, Lagos which caters through its multidisciplinary approach for the mental health needs of children and adolescents living with mental illness and disability.
It is generally believed by many that children do not suffer mental or emotional problems because they are spared the stresses that adults encounter. The cultural belief is also that there is no orthodox care for Children with mental health conditions. The fact is that 1 in 5 children and adolescents suffer from vast ranges of mental illnesses often without being detected or helped by those living around them in their communities.
Because of this, opportunities for good orthodox treatment, schooling and vocations become lost to these children in their early years. They thus eventually become disabled and become a source of distress and burden to their parents and care-givers.
Part of our current strategy for reducing these mental health conditions in children in the community and promoting early detection and intervention is the CAMH training of all stakeholders involved in the care of Children and Adolescents. These include General Medical Practitioners, Family Physicians, consultants in all medical fields, Psychiatrists, Nurses, Paediatricians, Obstetricians, Artisans, Occupational therapists, Resident doctors, Regular Teachers, Special Educators, School Proprietors, Pharmacists, Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Social Welfare officers, Child Minders, Parents, Policy drivers, Traditional healers, Correctional home officers, Police officers and other law enforcement agents, Politicians, Film Directors, Non-Governmental Organizations especially those invested in child care, Lab Scientists, Book writers etc.
This one- week intensive training workshop will empower these stakeholders to improve their services, detect mental illness as well as protect all children within their custodial care from mental illness.
We hereby recommend and invite you in your capacity as a Stakeholder in child and Adolescent Mental Health to avail yourself of this training program, to sponsor as well as encourage others to attend.
