A 5 DAY WORKSHOP / TRAINING ON IDENTIFICATION OF COMMON CHILDHOOD MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Center (CAMHSC) is a segment of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Yaba, Lagos which caters through a multidisciplinary approach for the mental health needs of children living with mental illness and those of them who suffer disability from it. The Mayfield Medical Clinic is a multi-specialist Medical Service based in Lagos which is situated close to patients within their local community.
Opportunities for good treatment, schooling and vocations become lost to children and adolescents with mental illness when their conditions are not recognized, diagnosed and treated on time. They eventually become so distressed as well as become a source of distress to their parents, caregivers and the community. Some may even resort to drug abuse/addiction. Part of our strategy for reducing mental health conditions in children in the community and promoting early detection is the training of all stakeholders involved in the care of Children and Adolescents. Towards this goal, a oneweek training/workshop is being organized by the above mentioned organizations.
