The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently extended the deadline for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVC). Following this, we decided to conduct a survey to find out how successful, doctors have been at collecting their PVC's. We asked doctors the following questions : 1. Do you have a Temporary Voter Card? 2. Have you tried to collect your Permanent Voter Card ? 3. Have you been able to collect your PVC? 4. For those that could not, we asked: What State did you intend to vote? 5. For those that were able to, we asked: What State do you intend to vote?

Highlights include:

71.56% of respondents confirmed that they had collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC). Edo State, closely followed by Kano had the highest number of doctors who had been able to collect their PVC Ogun and Plateau States had the highest number of doctors who had not succeeded in collecting their PVCs. Tell us what you think....

The number of doctors that participated in too low, I hope this is not a representation of the overall participation of doctors in the February polls? We need to create awareness among doctors to get more involved in the electoral process!

NMA and Dodlink have done a good job. It is my hope that we (Doctors) will be trail blazers on other issues affecting our nation as well. Well done.

I think the issue of election is a mandatory national call that all patriotic Nigerians must heed to. The Medical Profession, for instance, has never been so humiliated, being on strike for THREE BAD MONTHS without resolving the legitimate grouse? We can't afford to fail in our duty to ensure the emergence of a responsible leadership that will ensure sanity in our system.

There is need need to create ample time for people to register in the first place. The last voters registration exercise was done in such a way that there were perennial long queue and many people could not register. That mean that people who relocated to other states after the previous registration exercise are also automatically defranchised

I made a third attempt to collect my PVC yesterday 6th February .My name was on the inec register but was told my card has not arrived and could not be found. The inec official proferred no solution but was suggesting I wait for the next registration exercise! Ironically d registration I did at the very first exercise at Ika South LGA was said to have been corrupted by a virus and the whole exercise was cancelled. I wonder how many other Nigerians are going through this experience. I have my temporary voters card but will I be eligible to vote? Inec must wake up.
