SAKKWATO AGC/ADM 2016 – Day 3 Activities Day 3 activities of the Annual General Conference and Delegates meeting of the NMA started with the Scientific Session at about 8.00am and was followed immediately at 10am with the formal opening ceremony. The Opening ceremony had in attendance the Hon. Minister of Health Prof. Isaac Adewole who gave the key note address and also represented President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, The Sokoto State Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Executive Governor of Sokoto State, the Hon. Minister of State for Health Dr. Osagie Ehanire, Dr. Amina Shamaki the Permanent Secretary FMOH, CMD UDUTH, amongst other dignitaries. The Chairman of the NMA Board of Trustee, Prof. Umaru Shehu, members of the NMA Elders Consultative Forum and some other notable elders of the Association were all in attendance. The Sokoto AGC/ADM got a distinctive flavour with the presence of some of CMDs and MDs. The Opening ceremony was characterized with speeches from the Chairman of the LOC and Sokoto state chairman, Dr. Abdulgafar Jimoh, NMA President, Sir. Dr. Kayode Obembe amongst others. All the speakers commiserated with the Association on the fatal accident on Sunday evening along Abuja- Kaduna Expressway that claimed the lives of 6delegates from Ekiti State and their official driver, they prayed for the repose of their souls and also prayed for the families they left behind and the Hippocratic community at large. A minute silence was observed in their honour. The conference was declared open by the representative of President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, Prof. Isaac Adewole and came to a close with a charge to Medical and Dental Practitioners to be very proactive in discharging their duties as care givers and always put the patient first. Immediately after the opening ceremony the Continuous Medical Education continued in two very educative and interesting sessions. The Business of the conference will start tomorrow Wednesday 27th April, 2016 by 8.00am with scientific session to be followed by the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting. We encourage members to come out on time for these activities and on behalf of the President and National Officers’ Committee I welcome all delegates who arrived today and wish us all a memorable stay.
