Resident Doctors in the South-south have decried the state of health care facilities and general welfare of doctors in Nigeria

The doctors described the situation as falling short of any acceptable standard. In a meeting with journalists at the Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Rivers State capital, the Union lamented that if the trend is not reversed, it may spell doom for general health care in the region. The union further stated that most of the Federal Health Institutions are either closed or bedeviled by industrial issues.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the caucus leader, Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi called on the Federal Government and the Ministry of Health to take urgent action.
